Hedging Against Marquis' Jet Cards

Marquis Jet and NetJets are both registered trademarks. Regent Jet is in no way affiliated with either Marquis Jet Partners or NetJets, Inc.

Program Overview

  • 25-Hour Increment: Members pre-pay in 25-hour increments
  • No Daily Flight Minimum: Members only pay for the time that they are in the air, plus 12 minutes of taxi time per leg
  • Occupied Hourly Pricing: In addition to acquisition cost which covers flight time, Members are charged a substantial fuel surcharge.
  • Peak Period Days: Marquis Jet has the highest number of Peak Period Days in the industry

Vulnerabilities to Hedging

Regent Jet Membership empowers Marquis Jet Members to hedge against their program when Marquis hours are overpriced. Using Regent Jet’s network of late-model, premium-quality executive jets, we are able to provide a similar or superior flight experience at a substantial savings for Marquis cardholders on a trip-by-trip basis.

Types of trips where Regent Jet is a viable alternative for Marquis Jet cardholders:

  • Round Trips: Because Marquis Jet charges the same hourly rate for one-ways as round-trips, Members who are making a brief round-trip (defined as 1.5 - 2 hours of flying for every day of travel) are generally able to realize substantial savings as part of Regent Jet Membership.
  • Long Flights: For one-way trips with a flight time of 3 hours or more, Regent Jet is often able to source an empty leg or one-way flight at substantially less than Marquis Jet's rates.
  • One Ways to Popular Destinations: For travelers flying along high-density lanes (for example, Northeast to Florida), empty legs are often available at substantial savings.
  • Interchange Fees: When a Marquis Jet Member has a trip that does not fit their assigned aircraft, Marquis Jet assesses an Interchange Fee that disproportionately penalizes the Member for opting out of their aircraft.
  • Peak Period Days: Marquis Jet Members have very little flexibility in securing last-minute lift during peak period days. Regent Jet is almost always able to secure lift during peak period days at competitive prices.
    • In addition, Marquis Jet can 'bump' their Members during peak period days by as much as 3 hours either way. This is especially relevant for Members who want to avoid cutting their last day of a holiday vacation short.

Conversely, Marquis Jet is often a good value for:

  • One-way flights to Mexico and the Caribbean
  • Short one-way flights (New York to Martha's Vineyard, Los Angeles to Las Vegas)
  • Trips that originate in out-of-the-way locales (Port Angeles, WA to Bozeman, MT)
